Appendix D comprises a form letter sent on 27th June 1878 to Victorian shire councils from J. B. Patterson, Commissioner of Public Works, requesting information concerning the name of their parish/s, length in miles, acreage, and annual value per acre of lands intersected by the roads so closed, and a map with all roads closed marked in red ink. The second letter sent 26th August 1878 comprises a renewed request for information from those shires which have not yet supplied it. The third item comprises Extracts From Correspondence with the Shire Authorities Relating to the Map and Return of Closed Roads Requests From Them on 27th June 1878, consisting of extracts from replies of Alberton Shire, A.
